44. I can’t tell 말 못하겠어/구별 못하겠어

A: Hi Joey.

A: That’s because I’m wearing a dress that accents my boobs.

        ✦ because/that’s because : 결과가 먼저, 원인이 뒤에 오는 구조

            예> I didn’t finish the job because I had no time. 한 문장

                  I didn’t finish the job. That’s because I had no time. 두 문장으로 나눌 수 있다

                 그 일을 끝내지 못했어. 왜냐하면 시간이 없었어.

        ✦ that’s why : 원인이 먼저, 뒤에 결과가 오는 구조

            예> I had no time. That’s why I didn’t finish the job. 

                  시간이 없었어. 그래서 나는 그 일을 끝내지  못 한거야.

B: You don’t say.

        ◆ You don't say that. 어떤 상황에 대해서 놀라거나 반문할 때 : 에이, 그럴리가! / 설마!

            비슷한 말> No kidding / Really? / Is that so?

A: Forget it Joey. I’m with Bob now. He’s great. He’s smart. He’s sophisticated.

        ◆ Forget it : 지금 네가 하려는 행동 잊어버려➜추근덕거리지마

        ◆ Be with : ~와 사귀다 =be seeing

        ◆ Sophisticated : 복잡한,정교한/(사람이 주어일 때) 지적인, 교양있는

➀ 말 못하겠어 : tell +목적어 ➜ ‘말하다’ 라는 뜻으로 쓰고 싶을때는 tell뒤에 목적어를 붙여준다

I can’t tell which one is better. 어떤게 더 나은지 구별못하겠어.

I can’t tell you which one is better. 어떤게 더 나은지 말 못하겠어.

I can’t tell who is John.

문법적으로는 who John is 맞지만 회화에서 사람 이름이 나올 때는 혼용해서 사용
