96. When was the last time? 마지막으로 ~한 게 언제야?

Phoebe: Are you okay?

Rach: No. I feel so stupid. When was the last time to say like that? I think about the other day with you guys, you know,  I was all “Oh Paolo, he’s so great, he makes me feel so…”  Oh god, I’m so embarrassed.

        ◆ I think 뒤에 주어 동사가 따라오지 않는다고 생각하다라고 해석하지 말고 '내가 보기엔…'

          해석: 내가 그를 만나지 않았더라면 이런 일도 일어나지 않았을텐데.

        ◆ 문법적으로 this would never have 맞음.

            (never 의 위치가 궁금할 땐 not 을 넣어본다. ➜ this would not have happened)

            하지만 Never 는 앞에 쓰여 전체 상황을 강조하여 부정할 수 있다. 즉, 둘 다 맞음.

Phoebe: I’m sorry. Wait. What are we sorry about?

Rach: I don’t know. Right. He’s the pig.

Phoebe: Such a pig.

            ① 그러한, 그 따위의

            ② 뒤에 나오는 명사를 강조할 때 ➜ Very 와 비슷하지만 Very는 부사로 형용사를 꾸밈.

                하지만 명사를 꾸며주지 못하기 때문에 such a 를 사용한다.

                예문>

                You must not do such a thing. 너는 그러한 짓을 하면 안돼.

                I’m just glad I had such a (wonderful) meal. 대단히 훌륭한 식사를 하게 되어서 기쁘다.

Phoebe: He’s such a pig. He’s like a big disgusting.

Rach: But he was my pig man. How did I not see this?

When was the last time? 마지막으로 ~한 게 언제야?

과거이지만 앞에 과거형 was 가 있으니까 뒤에는 현재형을 써줘야 한다고 생각하면 안됨. 

이것은 뒤에 오는 문장과는 상관없는 별개의 두개의 문장이다.

반면 When did you last? 는 불완전한 문장으로 did 라는 과거가 이미 나왔기 때문에 뒤에

현재동사를 사용한다.
