A: Monica, I need to borrow some moisturizer.

        ◆ Moist 촉촉한 / moisture 촉촉함,수분,습기 / moisturize 촉촉하게 하다 / 

            Moisturizer 보습제 :

            대개 er 이 붙으면 '~하는 사람' 을 나타내는데 종종 '~하게 하는 사물' 이란 의미도 갖는다.

            예) cook 요리하다,요리사, cooker 요리하는 기계 / roll 구르다, roller 롤러

B: For what?

        ◆ For what? 무엇 때문에? 뭘 위해서? 왜? 뭐에 쓰려고? (what:보습제를 갖고 쓰는 용도)

        ◆ What (is it) for? (it:보습제)

            같은 말) why?/what for?/how come?

        ◆ What do you think? 무슨 소리야? 지금 상황 몰라? (거의 감탄사처럼 쓰임)

        ◆ There : 부사 뿐 아니라 명사로도 쓰인다.

        ◆ Ever : 부사로 원래의 뜻은 항상, 늘, 언제나 이다.

            단! Not,nothing 등의 부정/의문문에서는 “한번이라도” 라는 뜻으로 쓰인다.

            예) Have you ever been there? 한번이라도 거기 가본 적 있어?

C: Where’s Joey? His mom’s on the phone.

B: He’s in the bathroom. I don’t think you wanna go in there.

    해석 : 거기 들어가고 싶지 않을텐데.

C: C’mon. We’re roommates. My eyes!

B: I warned you.

C: Listen. Let me borrow a couple of things. 

        ◆ A couple of : (복수) 두 세개의, 몇몇의

           예) A couple of days, A couple of weeks

           예문) I need a couple of things. 몇 개 필요해요.

                   Here are a couple of people. 여기 몇 사람 있어요. 

C: Aurora spent the night, I really wanna make her breakfast. 

B: Oh~ you got the whole night, huh?

        ◆ Whole day 하루종일 (시간)

            The whole country 전국각지 / The whole town 도시 전체 (장소)

C: I only have twenty minutes until Ethan.

 

<오늘의 표현>

Let me 명령형으로 “나를 ~하게 해줘” 의역하면 “~해볼게요” 라는 의미로 쓰인다.

        ◆ I will : 네 상황에 관계없이 나는 ~할 것이다 : 강한 의지/문법적인 문장

        ◆ Let me : 너의 상황을 고려해서 사용 : 수동적인 의미/회화적인 문장/존중하는 표현

            ➨ 뜻은 같지만 늬앙스가 다르다.
